The journey so far......
Welcome to our website, our community and our dream. We are Louise + Dariush - thank you for visiting Shoreline!
We met in London in the spring of 2006 and started working with each other on a variety of interesting and different projects and events, under many chefs.
Setting up a place in Notting Hill, we worked for some inspiring chefs and restaurateurs including Peter Gordon, Bill Granger, Anna Hansen, Mark Hix, Russell Norman, the Caravan crew, until we decided to relocate to D's home town of
Brighton to raise our kids by the sea.
We were inspired to open our wine and provisions store and café in 2022, firstly by a road trip to California and then subsequent trips to the west coast of Portugal.
We wanted a space where people could meet, share their stories, and simply kick back in the sunshine with their friends + family, fuelled by our love of all things Californian - the lifestyle, healthy sustainable eating, locally sourcing where we can.
Community, Consistency and Hospitality are our core beliefs.
What we've learned over the past few years is that people need people, people! And they need a community,
somewhere to meet. We are super proud to be a part of that story.
So how did it all come together?
We started with Shoreline Stores.
Fuelled by our love of community, sustainability and championing small batch Sussex producers as well as embracing anything artisan which we feel is supremely delicious.
You'll find local and French artisan cheeses, Sussex honey, jams, pickles + chutneys, locally made authentic Korean kimchi, super popular sauerkraut, raw honey kombucha as well as a fantastic selection of sustainable tinned fish from Portugal + Spain, and more recently British conservas from Dorset.
Alongside our provisions we are your one stop shop for natural, sustainable and biodynamically farmed wines , as well as Sussex Beers + Cider, local rum, brandy + gins.
We kept building on the dream, opening Shoreline Coffee + Kitchen next door.
We were inspired to create a space for our locals to eat brilliant food + drink great coffee. We infused our love of Californian style in to our menu and daily specials, which are always available, and check out our in-house skateboards for all our hot drinks + smoothies .
The first in Brighton to serve Tin to Table, we also make our own kimchi, house pickles and are dab hands at baking brilliant cakes, eye opening brunch dishes and potentially invented the Craffle back in the spring!
